PRIDE THE MUSICAL (COMING SOON)
A new musical version of Pride, based on Calamity’s 2014 film of the same name, is coming to London in 2026.
Stephen Beresford is adapting his screenplay for the stage, and Matthew Warchus (Matilda The Musical), outgoing artistic director of The Old Vic, is returning as director. The production features original music by Christopher Nightingale, Josh Cohen, and DJ Walde.
This new musical is a co-production between the National Theatre and P&P Productions, the latter led by Warchus, Beresford, Niove Janis of Playful Productions, and David Livingstone, who also produced the original film.
Set during the miners’ strike of 1984, the musical follows a group of lesbian and gay activists who lend their support to the striking mining communities. The production will run in 2026 at the National Theatre’s Dorfman stage, following its initial performances at the Sherman Theatre in Cardiff.
Dates, tickets and casting news to be announced in due course.
